Wanda (Wanderer) in Melanie's Body
As all souls Wandererer is kind, pleasant, and hates violence. She has been a host on seven planets, and now is inside Melanie Stryder's body. What she didn't plan was the resistance that Melanie is putting on her and the exhaustion of emotions her human body is putting her through. Wanderer, unsure of herself ends up becoming not only a host to Melanie's inner-mind, but also a friend. She starts her journey to reunite herself with the people that Melanie loves, Jared her boyfriend and Jamie her younger brother, and on the way notices that she has fallen in love with Jared as well. Although, hosts that sway from regular society and bump into human's aren't safe, and Wanderer, later nicknamed Wanda, finds that out the hard way as she learns to love, belong, and finds herself all over again.

Melanie Stryder
Melanie is one of the few remaining "wild" humans, a wild human is one that has not yet been captured by a Seeker and does not have another "soul" put inside of them. Once a soul is put inside the human, the person turns into a shell until the new host takes over. Although, when Melanie is captured her strength doesn't allow her to just fade away. Melanie is described as tanned with dark brown hair, a tough exterior and irrevocably in love with Jared Howe.

Ian O'Shea
At first Ian is unsure of Wanderer and sides with the majority that she should die. Although, as he begins to learn what a beautiful person she is, he starts falling in love with her. His kindness and love help keep Melanie alive and his acceptance starts a pattern among the group. He is Wanda's protector and love and Wanda describes him as a love that she never wants to leave. He is tall, has dark brown hair, and a beautiful face with a straight nose.

Jared Howe
Jared is one of the leaders of the small group of people in the caves, he is the best on raids and has been described as a savior to the people. He is in his late 20's/early 30's and has strong features, shorter hair with blonde specks in it and loves Melanie.

Jamie Stryder
Melanie's younger little brother who shares a close relationship with Wanda, Melanie, and Jared. As his sister returns, as a Host, he doesn't seem to mind, and is one of the few that keep her alive long enough to begin to love her.

Jeb
Melanie's quirky uncle, who happens to be the one that is her savior. Jeb's odd ways helps introduce Wanderer into society and his leadership and kindness allows the humans to evolve into ones that can work together for a common goal, to survive and live in some normalcy.

Wanda (Wanderer) in Petals to the Moon's Body
After Wanderer is extracted from Melanie's body she vows that she wants to die. Although, the human group that once hated her began to love her over the months she stayed in the caves with them, and they don't want to see her go. After weeks of searching they stumble onto Petal's to the Moon, who is a younger looking girl around 17 years of age, she is petite and blonde and described as looking innocent. The group decides she is the perfect new host body for Wanda and place her in this body so she can keep on living with the people she loves and the man she loves, Ian.
