Michael Westen is a former spy who has recently received a burn notice, which let him know that he was no longer needed. The notice came as a shock, and Michael is now searching for answers as to why the agency he served so long would leave him high and dry when he has done nothing wrong. Michael left home when he was only a teenager to get away from his abusive father and recently it was noted that had stolen many cars even before the age of 12. Although, he came back saying he did it so they could get to the grocery store when his father was on one of his "bends." As Michael is on the hunt for reasons as to why he received the burn notice, he also helps out family, friends, and acquaintances with any problem that they may have.

Fiona is a former INS agent and also Michael's former girlfriend, she has followed him to Miami after Michael's burn notice and partners up with him on many of the cases he takes. She can handle herself well and is known for being able to create a bug or bomb out of household products. She wants to be with Michael romantically again although he continues to draw the line at friends.

Sam is an aging semi-retired spy who is supposed to "dish" information on what Michael is up to to the FBI. Although, as Michael and him are friends they usually set up what they want the FBI agents to hear. Sam helps Michael with the many cases he is a part of.

Played By: Sharon Gless
Michael's hypochondriac, chain-smoking, mother who is constantly trying to pull her family together. On some days she could name each person on the national security council and other days she'd pretend Michael worked at the post office, Madeline is not known for her stability. Her occasional "spell" is usually done only for attention and to bring her two sons together.
