I'll say this before I say anything, I still enjoyed this book but it wasn't the best. I was glad to be able to read about many of my favorite characters once again, I will always enjoy the Plum fandom and the wacky and fun occurences that take place. Although, this story was all over the place. It felt like we were being ripped back and forth for much of the book and in the end Janet decided that it would be about a bank robbery and the stash of money that could be in Joe's basement. Ranger seemed kind of like cardboard in the book, very one dimensional, I want to learn more about him instead of putting him on the backburner like he was in this book. I enjoyed Joe though, and did take note that his relationship with Stephanie is easy, it is something they could fall into easily...for the rest of their lives. Is this the direction that Janet will take? I love Grandma Mazur and even though she was a hardcore gamer in this book, I still found it funny, even though it was rather outrageous. Lula's engagement to Tank didn't seem OOC to me, she likes to be in charge and when she makes her mind up about something, that is how it is going to be. I found it amusing. I would like to see something different with the next book, although I guess we will have to wait and see! |
Halfway to the Grave, Jeaniene Frost |

I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the world that Ms. Frost had created and also really enjoyed Bones and Catherine. The story overall was interesting and I enjoyed finding out, according to Ms. Frost, how vampires came to be and learning more about the other things that go bump in the night in this world. I found the story to be fast paced and interesting although one thing I'm a little "hmm" about is the ending. Cat becoming some type of FBI agent while promising to stay away from Bones? I guess I'll wait and see how this goes in the second book although I really enjoy the chemistry between Bones and Cat so this is disappointing. |
Frozen Fire, Tim Bowler |

Very different, but interesting at the same time. I felt as if this strange boy was perhaps how Dusty saw herself. She was noted as being a tomboy, a girl yet she was familiar with a boy, as the "boy" was. The boy lived a strange life, on the run from people, and people hated him because they simply feared him. Dusty didn't seem to fit in with any group, she was somewhat of an outsider and due to this people didn't particularly like her, she related to the boy because perhaps in more ways than one she was him? An odd yet interesting book that makes you think. |

Pretty good, I'm enjoying the Dresden mysteries. Although, I do find Murphy to be somewhat annoying. :p I think Susan is an okay character, although I have to say I'd like to see more of Bob, what a snarky little skull he is. The story with the werewolves was interesting, although kind of dragged a bit in spots, although I enjoyed the ending. I'll be checking out more of this series. |
Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer |

Well, I'd have a hard time giving one of my favorite series less than a three, so I won't. :) This was definitely a highly anticipated book that had so much potential, although failed to deliver. I enjoyed several parts of the book and several characters, although overall this book was disappointing. I won't put spoilers here for a little bit as I don't want people stumbling upon this page and being spoiled for the book. Although, I'll be more general and say that I believe Stephenie may have had too much on her plate releasing two books in one year and rushed through this book with some strange plot lines that sounded more like fanfic, and wrote some characters very differently than they were in previous books. I think the book dragged a bit and could have been shorter, although I was glad to see many of my favorite characters and happily ever after endings are nice, so I can't say I hated the ending. :) |

Pretty interesting yet complex story. I enjoyed it overall as I liked several of the main characters. Although, there were parts that dragged out a bit, the pirate parts were namely ones that I thought were ehh. I enjoyed the character interaction between the main characters though and enjoyed Dan/Laurie. Rorschach, although insane, was intriguing and I enjoyed his story. |
City of Ember, The, Jeanne DuPrau |

When the world seems to be coming to an end, a new city is formed. What the people living there over two hundred years later don't know is that they live underground and that supplies are running low. The city of Ember's lights are going out and soon perhaps they will for good. Two young children, Lina and Doon, who are mentally years older than their tender age of 12 discover the instructions to escaping from Ember and going to a city of light. In their backwards town they try to figure out exactly what the instructions mean and exactly how to start a new life on the outside. A really well written book that I found very interesting. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed a YA book that has two twelve year olds as the main characters. The story kept me interested throughout and I am actually wanting to read the second to find out more. |

(3.5/5) Rather enjoyable although no where near as good as the first installment in the Sookie Stackhouse series. The small town murder drama was rather interesting, although it did take me quite a while to warm up to some of the characters. I found Tolliver and Harper to be rather flat and dry, although grew to like them more in the end. Although, I still don't think they are exactly fantastic characters that I felt I had to find out what was going to happen with them next. Although, overall a pretty good book and I'll be reading the other books in the series since I already have them from the library. |

An enjoyable book, I liked Harry Dresden and his cynical attitude. I didn't know anything about the series before I read it and enjoyed the "world" of the book where the supernatural is part of everyday life. Although, I did find the vampires in the books very strange! Not sure how I feel about that, although authors have the right to do what they choose with their mystical creatures. Overall, a good read and I'll be reading more of the series. |
From Dead to Worse, Charlaine Harris |

Aw, so I've read all the books that are out so far in the series, and I have enjoyed them immensely. The characters are well done and very likeable, and the mysteries over all are intriguing. This book built up to an early climax and the remainder of the book was mainly the aftermath. Sophie Anne has died and a hostile takeover forces Eric to bow down to the new King of Louisiana, who also happens to be the King of Nevada. Afterwards, we see how the power shifts in Louisana with the vampires, and also get to see more of Eric and Sookie's blood bond. Eric also finally remembers every detail of their nights together, from Dead to the World. As for the relationship with Quinn, wow that fizzled out even worse than I expected it to. Although, I do understand Sookie's reasoning, she hadn't heard from him in months, he could have at least called her to let her know that he was still among the living. :-/ We get to meet Sookie's mysterious great-grandfather who also happens to be a fairy, and Sookie is also distantly related to Claude and Claudine. This book was a lot about the reveals of Sookie's family members she never knew she had, who all are affected in one way or another by the supernatural. I liked this, although overall I thought the book had quite a bit going on, which is probably because Charlaine opened up a lot of mysteries at the beginning of the book and in the last book and had to put some answers out. I was a tad confused at the end as to who Sookie was going to look for although it was soon cleared up, so Hadley's son is a telepath too, interesting. I wonder if he'll be in any future books, although I'm sure he will. Overall a good book, now to start the waiting game for the next one. |
All Together Dead, Charlaine Harris |

An interesting book that throws Sookie into the vampire world even more than she already is. Working for the Queen of Louisiana certainly isn't easy, especially since someone is trying to kill her and many of the other vampire's off. What will keep this book memorable is the sharing of blood between Eric and Sookie, once again, which made her blood bound to him. I really love Eric's character (duh) so it will be interesting to see how this affects their relationship. I enjoy Quinn although I felt in this book he was sort of just there, especially towards the end. I'm guessing this means that he'll be taken out of the picture soon enough and that will allow Sookie's attention to be primarily on Eric. I don't mind that a bit, although I think it is interesting that Charlaine constantly adds a new dynamic into Sookie's relationship drama and jerks it away before we even get a chance to savor it. Although, not all is going to be well on the front with Eric, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. The main story of this book was pretty good, although not my favorite in the series. I did enjoy learning more about the vampire world though. :) Overall, a good read. |

(4.5/5) The book started off slow but had a terrific finish. I was a tad confused at first as the first part of the story as I hadn't read the short story that introduced us to the queen, Hadley, and a few other characters, but the story was forgiving to those of us that hadn't and explained everything! I really enjoyed Quinn and am looking forward to finding out more about him. As for Bill, wow, Charlaine really doesn't like him. Hah. I don't think Bill is all bad and I do think he loves Sookie, although with this new revelation I don't think Sookie will ever trust him again. A shame, but ah well. Charlaine introduces a new man into Sookie's life every book it seems like, and I seem to like them all. The main mystery with the queen was interesting and entertaining. I'm glad the Debbie Pelt stuff was put to rest at last, I'm tired of her and her family! |

Probably one of the weaker of the series. I enjoyed this book although didn't care about the main mystery as much as others. The sniper storyline was okay, although I think it became a little muddled. Although, I did enjoy learning more about the shifter community, I enjoy Alcide quite a bit and didn't "feel" him in this book. He didn't feel like the same character. I enjoy Eric and liked Bill better in this book although they weren't around as much as I would have liked. The Hotshot group is okay, although I am not all that into learning more about them. Hopefully we'll see less of them in the next book! |

Probably my favorite of the series that I've read so far. I find Eric to be very interesting, an Eric with amnesia? Double interesting. I enjoy the vampires so delving into their world once more was a lot of fun. Also, finding out there are more creatures that go bump in the dark in Sookie's world was nice. I enjoyed this different, sweeter, Eric quite a bit and loved the interaction between the two. We didn't have to see a lot of Bill = Good. The disappearance of Jason was an intriguing mystery, even though it was kind of in the back of my mind throughout the book. I liked Jason better in this book than I had in others, as it seemed he did contribute to Sookie's life, rather than seemingly running around town from woman to woman while his sister mops up the mess. It will be interesting to see how everything changes in Sookie's life now, with Eric and with Jason. I'm looking forward to the next installment. |

Better than the second! I'm really flying through this series, although it is really fantastic, so I blame that. I love the characters and loved seeing more of Eric. As for Bill, eh, I've never been all that keen on him although after this book I really didn't care for him at all. Sookie can do better than that, a relationship with Bill is really not healthy and isn't getting her anywhere. I obviously prefer Eric, although I know she'd probably be in the same kind of situation with him, so Sam it is, or even Alcide who I really enjoyed as well. |
